The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) launched a targeted operation on Friday against violations of dengue prevention guidelines, sealing seven illegal constructions on Girja Road.
According to officials, five completed buildings were found in breach of dengue SOPs and sealed to prevent risks of mosquito breeding. In addition, two under-construction structures were shut down over noncompliance with safety protocols and lack of mandatory documentation.
The action was carried out under the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2021, which prohibit construction without prior approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
The authority stated that such steps are essential to protect public health and ensure compliance with building regulations.
The RDA said the operation was conducted on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has directed zero tolerance for illegal development and encroachments. The authority emphasized that safeguarding residents from health hazards such as dengue remains a top priority.
The RDA urged property owners, developers, and residents to strictly follow dengue SOPs and cooperate with officials in maintaining safe, regulated, and encroachment-free neighborhoods across Rawalpindi.
