The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has clarified that the ongoing project at F-9 Park, Islamabad, does not involve the construction of a new cricket stadium, countering speculation on social media and other platforms.
According to the authority, the work being carried out is limited to the upgradation of the existing cricket ground to international standards. The purpose is to improve facilities for players and citizens while retaining the recreational and green character of the park.
CDA emphasized that the environmental concerns being raised are misplaced, as no green area will be sacrificed for the project. Officials stated that the natural landscape of F-9 Park remains intact and protected. Instead, the plan includes additional landscaping and turf improvements designed to enhance greenery and the park’s natural outlook.
The authority further clarified that children’s play areas and family recreational zones are unaffected by the development work. Efforts are being made to ensure that recreational facilities for the public remain preserved and accessible throughout the process.
In response to concerns about accessibility and security, CDA maintained that the upgradation poses no risks. The park will remain open, safe, and fully accessible to visitors both during the execution of the project and after its completion.
The initiative, according to CDA, is intended to provide citizens with a modern cricketing facility without disturbing the park’s existing recreational framework. The authority reiterated its commitment to balancing infrastructure development with the preservation of Islamabad’s natural beauty and green spaces.

Make all the excuses you need .
Govt can’t dictate nature.
Hello
It’s a incredible job by the present government,it should be encouraged I am very happy to see it.
Regards
Please don’t destroy this quantum of solace that remains in Islamabad. The city is now too big with way too many people with loads of them owning individual cars causing pollution collectively. I remember when Faisal Masjid was visible from almost every high vantage point in the twin cities. Now we only get to see it after a heavy / prolonged rain spell.. and that too lasts barely two days before it gets all dusty/smoky again. An international level cricket ground will cause disruption during matches in the heart of Islamabad if nothing else. I implore the authorities to reconsider 🙏🏻
This is bullshit. Save FJ park. Dont ruin it in the name 9f upgradation.
There is a dedicated Sports Complex available in Islamabad, where ample land is available to construct a Cricket stadium. This will also address the traffic congestion problem.

This reply of CDA is based on fact we should support it.
Unfortunately CDA has pathetic track record of preserving Islamabad’s and adjacent MHNP and Zone III sanctity when it comes to encroachment and misuse. Recently constructed Margalla Avenue was supposed to have a fence on its Northern side to protect the areas falling in Zone III but this hasn’t been done and encouragement is ongoing unabated.
Although it may not damage the park at the outset yet it will open the door of damage as is usually observed in all such developments. So we can hardly believe this clarification by CDA.
I hate cricket what a time waste game
