The government has taken another revolutionary step to increase public convenience in Lahore city.
The busy business areas of Old and New Anarkali, Nila Gunbad and Bakshi Market located in the heart of Lahore city are being converted into pedestrian areas. Only pedestrian traffic will be allowed in these areas and entry of vehicles will be prohibited.
The government has taken this important step due to traffic jams on the roads of these busy business centers throughout the day, pedestrians, especially women, face severe difficulties in walking on the roads and traders are also facing problems.
Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that the government has approved Rs. 800 million for the renovation of Shahdara Complex. Meanwhile, Rs. 370 million has also been approved for the renovation of the Lahore Fort.
The P&D Board has issued a notification for these projects. The Walled City Authority will now issue new tenders for these works, they confirmed.

This Is Very Very Very Good Move Plz Plz Plzzzzz Sir Take One Action On BRANDRETH ROAD Also SIR
This is a good step provided that it carries a parking solution . If not, it’s another Sheikh Chilli
Excellent initiatives, please add parking plazas as well…..
Punjab government is only interested in construction,Nameplates n looting public funds. They should give employment, health care, security, lower prices facilitate common man than spend huge amounts on beautification of roads.we ll be happier
Agreed with Mr Alam opinion, all the schemes and projects being run looks unsustainable and only to get short term popularity, for example nutrition progra thousands of millions spent, no body thought what would be the impact 170 ml milk, 4-5 days a week, for 9 months, what value is being added in kids health instead 4-5 hospital could be added with the same money
Spending on public health wont fill their own pockets…they just came loot this poor public in every way… cement inks derta inka ,construction companies inki… paisa public k name ka qerz from foreign…😁
Good!! but not only for cars but also for Rickshaws, Ching Che and motorbikes
Still waiting for any announcement for the crucial and direly needed…improvement of government schools, colleges and… THE EDUCATION SYSTEM…as a whole…
Government hospitals…a check on sky rocketing FEES of doctors and medicine prices…
Please check posts by minister of education. Controversial things come in news, good efforts are not news.
All markets of Lahore must be motocycle free, they create real mess.
Motorbikes are the most hazardous. Stop motorbikes too otherwise it will still be a nuisance.
Good initiative, but arrangements for proper parking plazas are needed to make it a real convenience
Model town link road requires an immediate attention. Cars & bikes must not be allowed to park on service roads. The un hygienic burger shops, even wooden must be removed earliest possible. It’s my opinion only. May Allah bless the Government to fix it on permanent basis
Excellent step but please do some strict actions against bikes also bikes can be still seen in picture updated in pedestrian area there should be no bikes
Excellent work done i really love for this big change
Initiatives like these may cost a little, but their impact on public convenience is massive. Take the Township market, for example. It’s a six-lane wide road, but with rickshaws, bikes, and cars parked on both sides, the usable space shrinks down to barely half a lane. Now imagine if a three-storey plaza was built just for parking and rickshaws were restricted from entering. The entire area would instantly transform into a clean, spacious, and pedestrian-friendly shopping zone—both practical and visually appealing.
Parking plaza may be made for public convenience
Where is parking? Already facing parking issues in and around Anarkali.
