Water Levels Rise Significantly; Spillways of Rawal and Khanpur Dams to Open Today

Due to recent heavy rains, water levels in Rawal Dam have risen sharply, reaching 1,751 feet. Authorities have announced that the dam’s spillways will be opened today at 1:30 PM to manage the increasing water volume. Assistant Commissioner Nilore will oversee the operation to ensure smooth and safe water discharge.

Rescue, security, and medical teams have been deployed at key locations for immediate emergency response. The district administration has advised residents to avoid unnecessary activities near the dam area as all necessary safety measures have been completed to mitigate potential risks.

Similarly, Khanpur Dam on the Haro River has seen its water storage rise to 1,980.80 feet. Given the ongoing rainfall in the catchment area, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has scheduled spillway operations to begin today at 1:30 PM, expected to continue for six hours to regulate the water level safely.
