Adventure enthusiasts will soon have a new destination to explore as the Munro Hiking Trail in Mansehra is set to reopen for trekkers, officials confirmed Wednesday.
The decision was finalized during a joint meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Department and the KP Forest Department, also attended by representatives of the KP Culture and Tourism Authority.
Located near Jabouri in Mansehra district, the trail is considered one of the most scenic routes in the region. Originally developed between 1900 and 1905 by A.V. Munro, a Forest Conservator during British India, the path was designed as a horse trail linking Kund to Kamal Ban in the Naran Valley, cutting across the rugged terrain between the Siran and Kaghan valleys.
The KP Forest Department has recently enhanced the historic route with improved facilities, including accommodation at the entry point, to encourage adventure and eco-tourism.
Officials said the reopening of the Munro Hiking Trail is expected to attract both domestic and international trekkers, offering a blend of natural beauty and historical significance.
