The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced that it will invest Rs. 14 billion in development projects during the 2025-26 financial year, with a special focus on LDA City, Avenue One, and several other schemes across Lahore.
This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Vice Chairman Mian Marghub Ahmed, attended by Wasa Vice Chairman Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmed and LDA Director General Tahir Farooq.
The LDA’s annual budget for the year includes Rs. 23.3 billion allocated for development receipts and Rs. 24.3 billion for non-development receipts. The Town Planning Wing has set a revenue target of Rs. 16.5 billion, while the CMP Wing aims to generate Rs. 1 billion. Additionally, sales and auctions are expected to bring in Rs. 11.4 billion.
As part of the approved proposals, the meeting also agreed to waive map and fee requirements for Jinnah Market, Township, and the Child Welfare Centre. The negotiation committee for LDA Avenue One was reconstituted to streamline project management.
Amendments to the LDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2019 were also approved, including changes to the floor area ratio for high-rise buildings, making basements and underground parking optional, and removing the arcade requirement for commercial properties up to 2 marla. The rules for the exterior of commercial properties in LDA-controlled areas were also updated.
The committee further discussed reducing penalty fees for illegal commercialization, lowering fees for educational and healthcare institutions, and amending the LDA Land Use Rules. Members praised the LDA team for their efforts to improve revenue generation. The sustainable development model for the Gulberg Scheme and the development plan for LDA Avenue One were also approved, with an emphasis on restoring maintenance and repair services for LDA-controlled roads.
