Rs. 1.36 Billion Allocated for Police Uniforms in Punjab

The Punjab government has doubled the budget for police uniforms, raising it from Rs. 680 million to Rs. 1.36 billion for the ongoing financial year.

According to police officials, approximately 225,000 uniforms will be purchased this year with the allocated budget. Last year, 139 uniform sets could not be procured due to budget constraints. The upcoming procurement will include not only uniforms but also T-shirts, jackets, shoes, and related gear.

Officials confirmed that the pre-qualification process for vendors will begin within the current month at the instructions of the Inspector General of Punjab Police. Advertisements inviting suppliers to apply for pre-qualification are expected to be published within the next two days.

Minor amendments have also been made to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) governing uniform procurement, aimed at improving efficiency and transparency.

Once the procurement process is completed, two uniform sets and accompanying equipment will be distributed to officers and personnel across various units.
