KP Imposes Ban on Illegal Mining Across Province

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has imposed a province-wide ban on illegal mining activities, including a 60-day restriction on gold exploration along the banks of the Indus and Kabul rivers.

According to an official notification issued by the Home Department, the prohibition specifically targets “spacer of gold” practices.

Authorities stated that these unregulated operations have been causing serious environmental damage while also raising law-and-order concerns in several districts.

The ban, enforced under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, will remain in place for two months in key areas such as Swat, Nowshera, Kohat, and their adjoining regions.

Officials emphasized that any violation of the order will be met with strict legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The provincial government has directed local administrations and law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance and take immediate action against violators.
