Suzuki Alto Sales Fell by 75% Within a Month

The Suzuki Alto, one of Pakistan’s top-selling compact vehicles, experienced a major drop in sales last month. According to data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), sales plummeted by 75%, falling from 9,497 units in June to just 2,327 in July.

The steep decline followed recent government changes to taxation. The General Sales Tax (GST) on cars up to 850cc was raised from 12.5% to 18%. Additionally, the government introduced a new NEV levy, applying 1% to vehicles up to 1300cc, 2% for 1301cc to 1800cc, and 3% for larger vehicles. The Alto, although below 850cc, was still impacted by these fiscal adjustments.

Reacting to the tax changes, Pakistan Suzuki Motors Company (PSMC) raised the price of the Alto to Rs. 3,326,450. The higher price point pushed the car out of reach for many budget-conscious buyers, particularly first-time car owners, a segment that traditionally makes up a significant portion of Alto’s customer base.

In an attempt to shield buyers from the tax hike, PSMC adopted an early invoicing approach in June, processing orders for July and August in advance. While this strategy boosted June’s numbers, it contributed to a significant decline in subsequent months.

  • We the Pakistani people are the most foolish nation in the world we never compare with India though we looking alike , Suzuki alto in India just 5 lac and we can go by walk and bring one but these stupid people must buy @ 35 lac. I will simply say Laholwlaquwta Aillabilla. I recommend the sale of Suzuki to drop 100 percent.

  • Prices of cars in Pakistan is beyond logic , same Alto 650 names as Maruti is around 300,000 IRS equals around 1,100,000 PKR, where as it’s 3,200,000 PKR. Who is benefiting with this difference ???

  • teen dabba vehicle and still on raising the prices, suzuki had lost its credibility, by looting the.buyers.Rules.are miniting money, also through automobile sector.

  • Not going to argue about what it is worth but for too long people who have Toxic level concerns about the pricing of the vehicle keep spewing hate comments for those who buy these cars. The , haters (for the reasonable and right reasons) keep posting to bycott nnd the irony is the number of buyers

solar energy boost the sale of electric vehicles.now a days useage of fuel vehicles are going in decline.and next five years you will see a big change on roads.

  • This car should be under 1.5 million. Nothing special, light weight, body strenght visible, no safety measures. Sways away if a car passes by on motorway.

  • رضا مند ہوا تو سوزوکی کی غلامی پر
مجھے گلہ تجھ سے ہے، سوزوکی سے نہیں۔

  • Buying of Suzuki alto at a so high price is just foolish, buy used ones at a reasonable price. This teen dabba should not be more than 10 lakh. 33 lakh is a joke with Pakistani,s.

  • Although all japanese assemblers are cutting corners (reducing weight, body, strength, paint, quality, safety, reliability), only increasing fuel efficiency & cost…
Suzuki is at the fore front in above, with Alto lowest in strength, quality & safety. Accident can completely crush like a cold drink (empty) can, resulting in number of deaths / disabilities, no spare wheels, completely disposable !

  • Gap between earning power and purchasing power of citizens is widening hourly as earning sources to a citizen are Himalayan afar. This gap is not being gauged by any state organ.

  • The price of this crap is too unreasonable, it doesn’t even justify half of its price Suzuki selling crap i hope this continues and one day we listen that not a single unit of this crap is sold. Maximum justifiable price of this crap is 20 lacs

  • Please stop this drama 660 cc car price is 33 laaks what is this

دونوں ہاتھوں سے لوٹ رہے ہیں خبیث اور تف ہے انکے خریداروں پر

  • Suzuki owners should increase production and reduce prices. This will increase car sales.

  • Indian price base is much low as compared to Pakistani auto industry units irrespective of currency value difference…..false legislation for fiscal budgeting…
    No facilities for AAM Janta

  • This so called sabundani , same in India maruti much much better than ours,@ 6 lac Indian rupees and this junck is 35 lac, and guess planning to make it 40 lac because they are cleaver like Milk Riaz to sell land which was , not more than one lac of 500 yards but he sold it very high price and see now, what is happened he has to pay the price back?

  • At this point, it’s literally a Mehran 2.0! This sh!t tincan worth 33 lakhs PKR is like a Lays chips packet being sold for 1000 PKR: new packaging, same stale flavor.
Here are a few more things I want to say about this idiotic tincan and the company:
    – The price tag is ridiculous for what’s essentially an underpowered 660cc kei car stripped of features
    – I’ve spotted, until now, new 2025 Altos twice, and my message to those drivers: Congratulations, you’re paying new-car money for 90s-level tech.
    – The PKDM Alto is a great choice if you want to experience maximum fear at minimum speed.
    – In other markets, the same money gets you airbags, ABS, and actual comfort: here, you just get vibrating plastic.
    – Imagine paying 33 lakhs for an Alto when a Changan Karvaan—an actual 7-seater minivan—aces it in every way and still costs less. More seats, more space, a stronger 1000cc engine, better road presence, better AC performance, and an interior that doesn’t feel like a toy car. Suzuki should be embarrassed. (even though the Alto is a kei hatchback, and the Karvaan is a minivan.
If Suzuki really cared about Pakistan, they’d stop dumping outdated trash here and give us the same Alto Japan gets.
