The Punjab government has launched a Rs. 34 billion “Improving Workforce Readiness” project to introduce a new technical education system aligned with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
Under the project, 19 technical and vocational institutes will be upgraded into Centers of Excellence by 2029. The initiative will also provide internationally recognized technical training to 90,000 young people across the province.
According to official documents, training programs will be designed for eight rapidly growing industrial sectors. The aim is to equip young people with skills that can improve their employment prospects in both local and international job markets.
The program will also focus on increasing women’s participation in modern technology and industrial fields. Authorities believe the initiative will help align Punjab’s workforce with the requirements of the global labor market.
The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) will implement the project across Punjab. The provincial government plans to spend up to Rs. 10 billion on the initiative during the current fiscal year.
Interested candidates will be able to apply and register through an online portal.
The project is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to support youth employment and skills development. The government has also previously introduced the Parwaz Card program for young people.
