Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced it will scale back its Lahore-to-Paris operations due to limited passenger demand, while keeping its Islamabad-Paris route fully functional.
A spokesperson for the airline confirmed that the last Lahore-Paris flights are scheduled for September 12 and September 17. The carrier had introduced twice-weekly direct flights from Lahore to the French capital in June, but the response has remained below expectations.
Meanwhile, the national flag carrier is preparing to resume flights to Manchester. Two aircraft are currently undergoing renovation, including one reassigned from the Lahore-Paris route, to meet the requirements for UK operations.
PIA officials expressed confidence that the airline will secure “Third Country Operators” authorization by mid-September. This certification is a key requirement for resuming service to the United Kingdom.
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency lifted its ban on PIA flights to Europe in November last year, opening the way for the airline to gradually restore operations across the continent.
