Punjab Schools Ban Flowers and Gifts During Official Visits

The Punjab School Education Department has imposed a ban on presenting flower bouquets and gifts during official visits.

According to official sources, the Secretary of Education has circulated a directive to Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Education across all districts. The notification highlights that during recent visits of the Secretary, schools were found spending unnecessarily on flowers, hospitality, and other non-essential items.

The directive instructs that such expenditures should instead be utilized for the welfare of schools and students. Emphasizing the need for simplicity, the Secretary of Education made it clear that flowers and gifts must no longer be presented during official visits.

Furthermore, all education officers have been advised to discourage the display of extravagance and ensure immediate compliance with the new instructions.

In other related news, the Punjab government launched the School Meal Program in eight districts, where students of government schools will be provided with milk and biscuits. The initiative, which aims to address malnutrition, will initially benefit more than 400,000 children.
