The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has announced the launch of its first-ever School Nutrition Program aimed at improving children’s health and dietary habits.
In the first phase, the initiative will be introduced in 40 schools across different districts of Lahore, where students from grades one to five will be provided with nutritious lunchboxes. Each lunchbox will include rice, vegetables, pulses, and other healthy food items.
To fund the program, PFA officials and employees will contribute voluntarily from their salaries. According to the plan, the Director General of PFA will donate three months’ salary, officers will contribute two months’ salary, while staff members will donate one month’s salary.
The Food Authority will also collaborate with various NGOs to ensure the program’s success. A comprehensive health assessment will be conducted every three months, evaluating children’s growth, vision, and overall well-being.
Furthermore, the PFA will closely monitor every stage of the program—from meal preparation to distribution—to guarantee quality and effectiveness.
