The Education Department has directed all government schools in the Rawalpindi Division to carry out a two-day anti-dengue campaign ahead of their reopening on September 1. The campaign must be completed by August 31, with strict compliance required from all institutions.
Mandatory Cleaning
The instructions call for thorough cleaning of school buildings and grounds, including classroom rooftops, corridors, and playgrounds. Overgrown grass and wild vegetation must be cleared immediately. Schools are also required to drain stagnant rainwater, repair any leaks, and clean classrooms, laboratories, and halls.
Washrooms must be fully sanitised and stocked with soap and towels, and schools must ensure the availability of safe drinking water. In addition, scrap materials and unused storage areas are to be cleared completely to eliminate potential mosquito breeding grounds.
Penalties
Formal letters outlining these directives have been issued to district and tehsil education officers, as well as school heads. Officials will conduct inspections on September 1, and any school found violating the guidelines, such as having overgrown rooftops, stagnant water, or leftover scrap, will face disciplinary action against its head.
