The Government of Pakistan, through the Ministry of Industries and Production, has announced a subsidized electric vehicle scheme under the New Energy Vehicle Policy 2025–30.
Subsidy Allocations
Under the first phase, which will be carried out during the fiscal year 2025–26, the government will offer subsidized rates for the following:
- 40,000 electric motorcycles
- 1,000 electric rickshaws
- 1,000 electric cars
The subsidy amounts are as follows:
- Motorcycle: Rs. 20,000
- Rickshaw: Rs. 80,000
- Car: Rs. 290,000
The total budget allocated for this phase is Rs. 880 million.
Eligibility Criteria
The program is targeted at segments of the population that typically face barriers to affordable transport. Eligible groups include:
- Students
- Factory workers
- Women
- Residents of rural areas
- Low-income individuals
- Persons with disabilities
Application Process
Interested individuals must submit their applications online at www.pave.gov.pk. Applications must include:
- A valid CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card)
- A driving license, where applicable
- Any other required documents as outlined on the platform
The deadline for applications is September 30, 2025. Selection will be conducted through a digital balloting process, ensuring a transparent allocation of subsidized vehicles.
The program is part of the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification Program (PAVE) and will be implemented under the supervision of the Engineering Development Board. The policy aims to reduce vehicle emissions, improve access to mobility, and support long-term environmental planning.
