The long-awaited spectrum auction, a critical step for advancing Pakistan’s telecom and digital sectors, is set to be completed by December 2025, following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The timeline was shared during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication on Tuesday.
The Auction Supervisory Committee (ASC), led by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, is scheduled to convene on Monday to review recommendations from a consultant engaged for the process. The consultant’s report will be presented during the meeting, paving the way for formal approval of the auction. Officials have committed to completing the process before the end of the calendar year.
The Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology, chaired by Senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan, met at the Parliament House to discuss pressing issues in the telecom and digital sectors. The Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) briefed the committee on its preparations for the spectrum auction, highlighting key milestones achieved since 2021.
According to the FAB, essential frequency bands have been aligned with global 5G standards, including the clearance of 30 MHz and the identification of additional millimeter-wave bands in the 3 GHz and 24 GHz ranges. These steps are crucial for enabling next-generation connectivity in Pakistan.
Despite progress, committee members raised concerns over delays caused by litigation and stay orders on certain frequency bands. These legal hurdles, they noted, are resulting in significant economic losses and hindering the growth of Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.
The Special Secretary of the Ministry of IT assured the committee that the auction would proceed as planned, with all necessary measures being taken to meet the revised December 2025 deadline. The official emphasized that the process is being carried out in line with the Prime Minister’s directives to ensure transparency and efficiency.

See date announced… poor journalism.
“A time window has been announced” would’ve been a better headline … No?
Who listens to Shahbaz Sharif 😁
defnitely not you, what a loss for him
Teri amma sunti hai bhai.
اگر بروقت شروع کیا گیا تو عوام اور ملک دونوں کے لئے بہتر ہے کیونکہ پہلے ہی بہت تاخیر ہوگئی ہے
Unfortunately Mobile sector being monopolized by the government as so called qoumi processor still being used G99/100/200 as these processors are outdated for 5G networks unfortunately Government is not paying attention to stagnating volatile market and still high on it’s weed consumption of everything is going great while things getting worse day by day and people are taking loans for daily necessities like food and health while 5G comes under luxury and Government focus is vague
People dieing. Flood playing havoc with live stocks, crops, properties, infrastructure. Time to plan how to rehabilitate flood affected and restore infrastructure and encounter next year’s flood.Telling us these new just like some one on death bed giving him beautiful clothes.
Brother. This auction will bring much needed financial benefits as govt will earn lot of money which can be used for rehabilitation of flood affected people.
Regards
Now your news only make fool people. No date mentioned. Sham on you. Propakistani. You want only Google ads impressions. Not royal viewers. Bad 😞
This is not the date actually. It is just expected timeline and not final one.
It can be dec 2026/2027 ..everything is possible for government to b late late and late.
Apny pass rakho sub jhot 2021 se aese date de te ja rahy hai be leken abhi tk 5g launch Nahi hua fake news
Zong could have offered 5G long time ago, but all these years the wait was to have at least one more company being able to offer 5G and compete. As jazz has successfully demonstrated recently as well now that auction will actually go through.
