Traffic congestion in Karachi could see major relief in the coming years as the federal government moves forward with the expansion of the Karachi Northern Bypass into the new M-10 Motorway.
The 57-kilometer bypass will be extended with a six-lane, 134-kilometer motorway connecting Karachi to the M-6 Motorway at Jamshoro through the Kirthar Mountain Range.
Officials described the M-10 as a transformative project that goes beyond a routine road upgrade. It includes widening parts of the Northern Bypass and constructing an entirely new motorway segment across the rugged Kirthar terrain.
A 23-kilometer stretch of road will also be expanded into six lanes, creating a continuous high-capacity route from Karachi Port to M-6.
The plan was reviewed on Wednesday during a meeting between Federal Minister for Communications Aleem Khan and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah at the CM House. The meeting was told that the feasibility study, being carried out by National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak), is currently underway.
Minister Khan emphasized that the project’s primary goal is to ease Karachi’s heavy traffic by offering a direct, high-speed connection to the national motorway network. The chief minister welcomed federal support, as both sides pledged timely and transparent completion of the M-6 and M-10 projects.

Failed to construct malir express way on time. 5 years already gone. To construct road project, it’s the responsibility to forget LUTTO AND PHUTTO policy of Sindh govt. For M6 and M-10. Kindly work with honesty, all of you are answerable to ooperwala.
Agree. Federal government should take initiative to improve roads and construct motorways in Karachi and Sindh just like it did in Hazara and Punjab. Sindh government and PPP least interested in infrastructure.
Operwala does not exist in Sindh, because Bhutto zinda hay
who will sit on motorway to study…its very risky.
I would suggest Sindh government to firstly complete the ongoing projects in Karachi to give relief to the Karachiites. Secondly, more projects similar to Shahrab e Bhutto (Malir Expressway) may be initiated to connect various areas of Karachi to control traffic congestion in future…
Why M-6 is not taken up for construction works?
M-10 shall be too fruitful for users and luggage transportation from port to forward goods along all routes in our beloved country -,Pakistan.
Excellent effort to ease Karachi wild traffic jam..even Liyari by pass can be extended or even two to three such by pass in Karachi city could have been ideal to traffic congestion relief..plus time saving.
shame on sindh govt and PPP
