List of All Train Routes Disrupted After Heavy Floods

Heavy rains and floods in Punjab have forced Pakistan Railways to suspend operations on several sections, with key tracks and bridges damaged. Dawn reported that repair work is ongoing in multiple areas, but full restoration will take time.

Narowal–Sialkot Section

The Narowal–Sialkot line has been out of service since August 27 after floodwater breached a portion of the track. A girder span of Bridge No. 7 near Aik Nullah was also displaced, causing water to remain at a high level and overflow the track. Repair work is in progress, and services are expected to resume by September 12.

Chak Jhumra–Shaheenabad Section

Operations on the Chak Jhumra–Shaheenabad (Sargodha) route were halted on August 29 after exceptionally high floods damaged Bridge No. 132 and 134 near Chiniot. Reconstruction efforts are underway to make the section operational again.

Wazirabad–Sialkot Section

Train movement between Wazirabad and Sialkot has been suspended since September 3. Floodwaters overtopped the track between Wazirabad and Sodhra Kopra, making it unsafe for operations.

Jhang–Shaheenabad Section

The Jhang–Shaheenabad line has been closed since August 28 after floodwaters caused a breach near the Rivaz Railway Bridge over the River Chenab. Water continues to flow through the damaged section, leaving services suspended.

Khanewal–Shorkot Section

Rail traffic on the Khanewal–Shorkot section was suspended on September 3 due to rising water levels at Abdul Hakim Bridge No. 27. Additional breaches between Abdul Hakim and Darkana stations on September 4 worsened the situation, forcing closure.

Other Disruptions

  • On the Shahdra–Faisalabad section, operations were slowed last month after an embankment cut at Bridge No. 10. Trains are passing with speed restrictions.
  • At Lahore–Badami Bagh, Tezgam Express was detained for nearly an hour when a tree fell on the track.
  • The Uggoki–Sialkot section faced two-hour delays last month after 12 inches of water overtopped the track.
  • Floods caused a 12-hour suspension on the Port Qasim–Bin Qasim line on August 20 after breaches on both sides.
  • The Kotri–Dadu track was blocked for three hours on the same day due to mud and boulder slides.
  • Freight services on the Tando Adam–Hyderabad section were suspended for 15 hours on August 22 due to waterlogging in the Hyderabad yard.
  • In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Peshawar Saddar–Cantt section was closed for around two hours on August 18 due to urban flooding.
