PCB Confirms Plans For a Historic T20I Tri-Series in November

2025 may well go down as the year the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) fell in love with organising T20I tri-series, after the board confirmed plans to host another three-team contest in November.

The tri-series will run from 17 to 29 November and will feature Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, marking a historic occasion for the hosts: it will be the first time Pakistan stages a T20I tri-nation series at home.

The tournament is viewed as ideal preparation for all three teams ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.

The action begins in Rawalpindi on 17 November, when Pakistan take on Afghanistan in what will also be the visitors’ first-ever T20I on Pakistani soil. Afghanistan have previously played five ODIs in the country, most recently against Australia during February’s ICC Champions Trophy, but this will mark a new chapter in their cricketing journey.

Rawalpindi will also host the Sri Lanka–Afghanistan clash on 19 November, before the tournament moves to Lahore. The iconic Gaddafi Stadium will stage the remaining five games, including the grand final on 29 November.

The tri-series follows a packed October–November home calendar, with Pakistan also set to host South Africa for two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs between 12 October and 8 November.

November’s Tri-Series Schedule

Date Match Venue City
17 November Pakistan vs Afghanistan Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium Rawalpindi
19 November Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium Rawalpindi
22 November Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Gaddafi Stadium Lahore
23 November Pakistan vs Afghanistan Gaddafi Stadium Lahore
25 November Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan Gaddafi Stadium Lahore
27 November Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Gaddafi Stadium Lahore
29 November Final Gaddafi Stadium Lahore

Two venues, three rivals, seven dress rehearsals for 2026 World Cup, Pakistan’s cricketing runway is cleared for takeoff. If November goes to plan, the roar from Rawalpindi to Lahore won’t just be noise; it’ll be a statement. And if the action delivers on the field, we might be seeing more of these three team competitions in the coming years.
