TikToker Arrested for Scamming Men by Dressing as a Woman

Swabi police have arrested a TikTok user accused of posting videos dressed as a woman, which authorities say were intended to “mislead people, especially the youth.”

According to Swabi DSP Ijaz Abazai and SHO Saidul Amin of Swabi City Police Station, the individual was creating content in women’s clothing and “striking controversial poses,” which sparked public anger. SHO Amin said that Aamir Khan, in charge of the Bamkhel police outpost, traced the suspect, who is a resident of Bamkhel, and arrested him.

An FIR was registered under Section 294 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which criminalizes obscene acts or songs in public places, punishable by up to three months in prison, a fine, or both. The FIR stated that the videos had a “very bad impact on society.”

The suspect admitted to making and uploading the videos on TikTok and pledged not to engage in such activities again. In a police-recorded video, he identified himself as a resident of Jafarkhail, Bamkhel, and promised to stop producing similar content.

Police presented the TikToker in a local court, where he will face legal proceedings. DSP Abazai expressed dismay that the videos featured Swabi’s traditional chail — a red-dotted white shawl considered a symbol of pride for local women.

Writer Aziz Manerwal explained the cultural importance of the chail, recalling its historical roots: “It is said that when women placed their white shawls on the bodies of their fallen husbands in battle, red stains appeared, and since then, women of Swabi have worn white shawls with red dots as a tradition.”
