Private schools across the city reopened on Thursday after several days of closure caused by heavy rains and urban flooding, announced All Private Schools Management Association Sindh (APSMA) Chairman Syed Tariq Shah.
To compensate for the academic disruption, APSMA has decided that Saturdays will now be observed as regular teaching days. Shah emphasized that this adjustment is essential to recover learning time lost due to repeated weather-related shutdowns.
The recent spell of persistent rainfall wreaked havoc in Karachi, inundating low-lying neighborhoods and raising water levels in the Malir and Lyari rivers. Major roads and residential areas were also submerged, significantly affecting routine life in the city.
Earlier, the Sindh government had directed the closure of all public and private educational institutions in Karachi Division following a weather alert from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), which had forecast heavy rains, strong winds, and thunderstorms.
