Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s Public Safety Mobile App Can Now be Used Without Internet

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has released a new version of its Public Safety App to expand citizen protection and improve emergency access.

Managing Director Muhammad Ahsan Younis said the app will remain free of data charges for the next 30 days following an agreement with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.

Support for Vulnerable Groups

The upgraded app is designed to serve vulnerable groups, including people with visual, hearing, and speech impairments, as well as patients with epilepsy and individuals facing mental health challenges. Agents trained in sign language have been added to ensure instant communication during emergencies.

New Safety Features

A lock screen option now allows users to indicate their disability and provide a close relative’s contact number for quick identification and rescue. The app also features gesture-based SOS alerts, fall detection for epilepsy patients, accident alerts, family tracking, and location-based flood notifications.

Expanded Emergency Services

Users can connect directly to emergency helplines through calls, live chat, or video calls. The app also integrates with services such as fire brigade, ambulance, Motorway Police, Punjab Highway Patrol, and disaster response agencies.

Complaint Tracking and Crime Reporting

The platform allows citizens to follow up on emergency complaints, check e-challans, report crimes through the Safety Eye feature, and register missing or found children. It also links to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Portal, Inspector General Police Complaint Cell, and Police Khidmat Markaz.

Inclusive Design

Available in Urdu and English, the app is designed for accessibility and inclusivity. Younis said the technology will strengthen protection for women, children, the elderly, minorities, and persons with disabilities by ensuring faster rescue and relief services.

Android and iOS versions of the application are available for download.
