The Punjab government has announced plans to distribute ration cards in flood-hit regions, with a directive to accelerate the process and prioritize relief for affected families.
According to sources in the Punjab Labor Department, a recent meeting reviewed several key issues, including the ration card distribution, recovery of workers’ welfare funds, a pilot subsidy project for low-income families in Lahore, filling vacant positions in the Labor Department, and the installation of CCTV cameras in workers’ welfare school buses.
The Provincial Labor Minister instructed officials to ensure the rapid distribution of ration cards in flood-affected areas and to mobilize all directors and field teams for the effective recovery of welfare funds.
He further directed that the pilot project, which provides a monthly subsidy of Rs. 3,000 to 10,000 low-income families in Lahore, be implemented without delay. Additionally, the preparation of working papers for the installation of CCTV cameras in school buses and the filling of vacant departmental posts were also emphasized.
