Route Revealed for Train Service Between Rawalpindi and Islamabad

A meeting chaired by Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday approved plans to launch a modern and fast train service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Officials said the new service will connect Margalla Station in Islamabad with Saddar Station in Rawalpindi, cutting travel time between the twin cities to about 20 minutes. The Ministry of Railways will provide the existing track infrastructure, while the Capital Development Authority (CDA) will manage the train operations.

The framework agreement for the project is expected to be finalized and signed next week, according to participants of the meeting. Authorities stressed that work on the project would be carried out on a priority basis.

Speaking on the occasion, Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi described the train service as an important public welfare initiative, highlighting its potential to make commuting quicker and more convenient. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the project reflects the federal government’s focus on easing daily life for citizens.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry added that the service would not only offer a fast and affordable mode of transport but also help reduce traffic congestion on the busy roads linking the two cities.

  • Margalla station is situated at a deserted place of Islamabad, though some universities exist nearby but these are for one time visit of students admitted. For daily commuters,Railways should extend Track of train through a jungle of just one and half kilometres which culminates and connects metro bus station on the main road. So extend Railways line upto 1500 meters to make train useful and profitable.

  • Interior Minister is working hard on road projects, fly overs and know on this project it is good, but law and order situation require his attention.

  • Pata nahi railway nizaam ko abhi tak behtar kio na kar saki Government Lakho log daily safar karte hai. Paisa jata kaha hai. Trains aur buses ki ticket equals ho chuki hai. Kia benefits diye ja raha hai passengers ko. Bullet train kia khaak chale gi yaha. Simple railway ka nizaam to theek nahi ho raha inn se. India hum se kahi aage nikal chuka hai. Aur yaha buss Allah hi hafiz hai. Logo ka bhi. Aur Government ka bhi. Koi mojza hi hai jo pakistan chal raha hai. Halaat aage aage aur kharab ho rahe. Aur bichari ghareeb awaam …..

  • I think it will be a useless effort and lose of money as already different means of transportations are already running between twin cities۔ Because both stations are so far away from commercial hubs as well as public offices۔ Therefore tram will be a better idea to join twin cities major commercial and residential areas۔
