The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has launched a strict crackdown on one-way traffic violations, registering 249 cases so far and impounding 743 vehicles and motorcycles across different police stations.
According to officials, the drive aims to curb dangerous driving practices that endanger not only violators but also other road users. On Monday alone, 66 additional cases were registered, while 141 vehicles and motorcycles were seized for violating one-way traffic rules.
Chief Traffic Officer Capt. (Retd.) Hamza Humayun said the campaign reflects the department’s zero-tolerance policy against reckless driving. He stressed that one-way violations pose serious risks to public safety and that strict enforcement will continue without discrimination.
In addition to on-ground enforcement, the traffic police have also launched a social media awareness campaign urging citizens to avoid life-threatening traffic violations.
ITP officers are deployed round the clock on major roads, and authorities have vowed to sustain the crackdown to ensure smoother and safer traffic flow in the capital.

Excellent news!
Wish someone starts it in Lahore also. It’s nightmare to drive
Pakistan and ha I am not I can go get married
The only way is to install tire busters in crossing and U turns, that’s the only way to curb one way violation. We Pakistanis take pride in doing all the wrong things.
Just news grab a patwari than confirm
Strict action against one way driving is required in pwd society
One-way violation is rampant in Pakistan and causes much irritation, besides posing risk to the vehicular traffic and pedestrians alike. Nevertheless, impounding of vehicles is a very harsh action that lacks justification. The traffic police in all Provinces & ICT should observe the traffic carefully and teach the commuters for disciplined use of roads.
I am in favour of more strict actions against violent of traffic rules. Impounding of vehicles the violators must be put behind bars for couple of days. This is only way to teach them to abide by traffic rules.
Nobody knows the rules, and the rules are not even clear, most of it is, it’s my right to go first, it’s my right to turn anywhere I want and reverse anywhere I want, in a intersection everyone is king. Then nobody goes anywhere
Ijp road pa bhot zada one way traffic Hoti kindly us pa action lain or ghair zarori U turns khatam karain
Instead of a time bound campaign following which violations continue CCTV technology should be used to trace and challan violators with heavy fines.
When Will they start catching one way violator in karachi. I bet they can catch about one lac per day.
Imagine the fine this will generate as revenue for Sindh government.
The problem in pakistan is that over the years I have seen 100s of such campaigns but after the first few days they die down and things go back to violations and breaking the law. Such campaigns must sustain themselves, here in Australia they use cameras to detect traffic violations and the fines are so heavy that nobody dares….I recently paid 470 dollars for my front seat passenger not wearing the seatbelt properly, it’s 1200 dollar fine if you use mobile phone.
Please clarify first the rules, what are you going to do about these questions?
1. Whose has right of way on the intersections, highway, side streets?
2. Where can people stop on a a highway, side street, and curb?
3. Speed limits, overtaking, double line on roads, scored lines, yellow and white lanes, checkered area.
4. Driving below speed limit and using phone and texting
5. Directional parking lanes
6. Accident handling
7. Pedestrians and construction worker safety and right on the road
8. Zebra crossings, broken traffic signals, intersection street lights
9. Garbage throwing on roads and hiightways
10. Repair and maintenance of road and highways
10. Stickers on driver side with arrow pointing telling driver “car on right has right of way”
cell phone use while driving is just as much a curse.. equally dangerous and problematic for others.
it is so common that maybe it’s impossible for the police to control… that’s why never a mention of it… in any traffic violation drive..!
Those who join a main road from exit do not wait and increase chance of collusion with vehicles going straight such persons should be challenged too. Also using right lane meant for overtaking is common.
Traffic Police are doing a commendable job…
They should also start checking the front and rear lights of the vehicles (especially motorcycles), whilst checking.
These sudden punishments should have followed a warning grace period of a few days. All impounding ofvehicles and fines should be cancelled after a written warning.
