The Punjab government is set to roll out tough new penalties for traffic violations, including higher fines and a license suspension system. The summary, prepared by the traffic police, has cleared departmental approvals and will now be sent to the provincial cabinet for final approval.
According to officials, fines for 25 different violations will now range from a minimum of Rs. 2,000 to a maximum of Rs. 20,000. Drivers will also lose two to four points per violation, and licenses will be suspended for two months to one year if 20 points are lost within a year.
Overspeeding will carry fines between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 20,000, along with a four-point deduction. Violating traffic signals or driving the wrong way will result in fines of Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 15,000, with four points deducted. Rash driving will be penalized with Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 15,000 fines and four-point cuts.
Overloading vehicles will attract fines of Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 15,000, also with four points deducted. The use of pressure horns will carry a Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 10,000 fine and two penalty points.
Currently, fines range from Rs. 100 to Rs. 500, except in five violations where courts allow up to Rs. 2,000. Officials said the new system will replace manual challaning with e-challaning once cabinet approval is granted.

2. Traffic police issues wrong online challans maaaany times especially the over speeding challans r issued without any speed guns, and no matter how much do u contest and explain they do not take the online challan back. Pathetic system and even more pathetic people running it.
There should be only one rule and that is shoot at sight.

The traffic department should stop pretending and just rename itself the Revenue Department.
Wahan jab traffic jam hoti hai to ek bhi traffic warden nazar nahi aata, lekin jaise hi challan ka time hota hai to 5–6 warden is tarah road par kharay milte hain jaise RAW ka agent pakarna ho. Agar aap ka asli kaam sirf challan karna hai aur traffic control karna nahi, to phir baraye mehrbani force ka naam “Revenue Warden” rakh dain.
The primary targets of fines are bikes. Hardly any vehicle especially suvs, dallas even with jet black tinted windows and front screen.
At night not a single vehicle i saw on high beam ever stopped by motorway police as well neither in cities.
Finally, things are moving towards something. Only now will the poor be motivated to question why these rules are only for them but not for the ones making them or friends of the ones making them.
Best solution, bicycle 🚲. Let the government fine themselves 😄.
Real news will be the implementation without any discrimination, no exemption to blue, green, red, black or even the registration plates with arrow.
Im my opinion besides monitory fines give different punishments right on the spot like sit ups pushups also (مرغا بنا دو کم از کم ادھے گھنٹے کے لیے)
They are targeting only poor riders such as bikers but the rich with luxury vehicles are exempted which isn’t fair at all.
