A high-level meeting was held in Islamabad to review progress on launching a modern and fast train service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The meeting was chaired by Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, following directions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The meeting, convened at CDA Headquarters, focused on finalizing the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CDA and Pakistan Railways. Senior officials from both institutions participated in detailed discussions regarding the agreement, which will soon be formally signed. The project aims to establish a state-of-the-art train service to connect the twin cities efficiently.
During the discussions, the participants reviewed the proposed route, layout plan, business model, and the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies for the train project. The initiative is expected to be a landmark step in modernizing the transport infrastructure of the federal capital region.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa stated that the project will significantly ease traffic congestion across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He added that the train service will be linked with feeder electric bus services to ensure easy access for citizens to key locations within Islamabad. The Chairman emphasized that the project will provide residents with safe, affordable, and comfortable travel options.
Muhammad Ali Randhawa further noted that the train service will be a major gift for the people of the twin cities. He stressed that international standards and best practices will guide the execution of the project, ensuring it delivers advanced transport facilities. He added that beyond improving mobility, the project will also contribute to the overall development and modernization of Islamabad.

There already is a functional metro bus service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Instead of such cheap gimmicks there should be local train from Gujar Khan to Rawalpindi/Islamabad and from Hassanabdal to Islamabad Rawalpindi.
Health facilities are not enough in both cities atleast five more general hospitals should be there, but there is no planning in this field.
Please think about Health facilities.
