Location Revealed for Asaan Khidmat Center in Islamabad

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has placed the erstwhile Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak-PWD) headquarters building at the disposal of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the establishment of Islamabad’s first Asaan Khidmat Center with the support of Azerbaijan. The initiative aims to provide citizens with one-stop facilitation services under a single roof.

CDA has been assigned the task of carrying out development, renovation, and furnishing work in Block-B of the building. The Ministry of IT has directed Pak-PWD to immediately vacate the block and shift its official record to another safe location. The directive was issued in line with the Prime Minister’s instructions to speed up the project.

The National Information Technology Board (NITB) has been tasked with digitizing the official records of Pak-PWD, ensuring modern record management and preservation. Funds for the project have already been released, and MoITT has urged CDA to complete the renovation work at the earliest.

The Asaan Khidmat Center will bring together multiple public service entities, including CDA, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), police, and NADRA, providing a wide range of services to citizens under one roof. The project will be led by the Ministry of IT as part of its digital governance and citizen facilitation agenda.

The agreement for the establishment of the center was signed earlier this month with Azerbaijan’s State Agency for Public Services and Social Innovations. During his recent visit to Baku, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif toured Azerbaijan’s Asaan Khidmat Center and directed that a similar model be replicated in Islamabad.
