The main branch of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) on Fatima Jinnah Road in Hyderabad caught fire on Monday evening, damaging furniture and documents.
Rescue 1122 spokesman Dilbar Halepto said the blaze engulfed the bank’s storeroom located in the basement. Based on initial investigations, he added, it appeared that a short circuit had triggered the fire.
He noted that the incident occurred after banking hours. The spokesman said a Rescue 1122 firefighting team successfully extinguished the flames and prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the building.
He confirmed that no casualties were reported.
