Chairman of the Intermediate Board Karachi, Faqir Muhammad Lakho, announced that high-achieving students from government colleges in the city will be awarded electric bikes as part of the Prime Minister’s initiative.
In addition, the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA) has pledged to grant full scholarships to position holders, offering them an opportunity to pursue further education free of charge.
A special ceremony is being planned where top students from Karachi’s public colleges, along with their parents and notable dignitaries, will be invited. The electric bikes, already delivered for distribution, will be handed over to the position holders during this event. According to officials, the program will continue annually until 2030.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced a nationwide scheme to distribute electric bikes among outstanding students. The initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to promote electric vehicles and make eco-friendly transport accessible to the general public.
Under the scheme, 100,000 electric bikes, along with 3,000 electric rickshaws and loaders, will be provided across the country. Position holders from all education boards will be eligible for the bikes, while unemployed individuals will benefit from the distribution of rickshaws and loaders.
