Karachi Red Line BRT Completion Date Announced

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Wednesday that the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project could take another two years to finish.

Speaking on ARY News’ morning show Bakhabar Sawera, he assured that many of the difficulties being faced by citizens would be resolved within the next four to six months. He added that traffic and construction-related issues along University Road were expected to be settled by early next year.

Memon emphasized that the provincial government was committed to speeding up the project but noted that technical hurdles, such as shifting gas, water, and K-Electric lines from the designated route, were causing delays.

“The government is not responsible for the embarrassment caused by these delays. We are actively working and have instructed the Karachi Commissioner to monitor the project daily,” he said.

The minister criticized the previous caretaker administration for neglecting the project during its tenure, adding that rising material costs after the signing of the Red Line contract had further complicated progress.

Memon also offered an apology to Karachi’s residents for the inconvenience caused. “We understand the frustration and are addressing issues daily. The Sindh government aims to complete the Red Line BRT as soon as possible,” he concluded.

  • Sirf lafazi. Govt chahe tou tou ye mahiney ka kam hay .I inhain paisa kamana hay.samhaj nahin atta mohibewatan log kun is loot maar per khamosh hain

  • E chllan totally headahdic to poor bike user and old citizen nearby drop at door step wrong decision taken by authority in Karachi

  • Ok, hurdles might be there but what about the broken roads beside the red line route and that is causing more and more frustration.

  • Absolute disaster…. Buses can use existing roads, with proper bus stops. DON’T need dedicated roads, at the expense of narrowing existing roads. Red BRT design included underground water storage tanks (copy of far eastern project), that requires deep excavation, relocation of drainage & utilities. Plus, these buses will run on bigas, produced from cow dung, processing, compressing & filling gas tanks in buses !

  • BRT Red line project jab bhi complete ho bhai alternate service road to sahi kerdo
dunia nay har jaga pehlay alternate on kiya jata hai
Govt to sirf mazay mai hai , in logo ko bolo khud office time pay safar kerkay dekho to phir insaf karo

  • When will the BRT Red Line project finally be completed? At least fix the alternate service road. Everywhere else in the world, alternate routes are made functional first. The government is just enjoying itself — tell them to travel during office hours themselves, then they’ll understand and do justice.
