Punjab to Introduce Law Against Land Grabbing

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced new legislation aimed at ending illegal land occupation across the province. She said that special courts will decide land-grabbing cases within 90 days, and those found guilty of seizing property belonging to widows and orphans will face up to 10 years in prison.

Speaking at the passing-out parade of the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) Force, Maryam Nawaz said establishing this force had been her dream, and its creation marks a major step toward protecting people’s rights. She added that markets are now free from encroachments, and women in particular are pleased with these changes. The PERA Force also includes trained women officers.

The Chief Minister praised the work of the CCD Department, saying its efforts to restore law and order were unmatched in history. She noted that several districts in Punjab now report zero crime, while in others, peace has been significantly restored.

Maryam Nawaz also warned against corruption, saying there is no blessing in taking bribes and urging businessmen to keep their profits within fair limits. She stressed that essential goods, like wheat flour, must be sold at government-set prices.

“Our duty is to protect people from oppression and ensure justice,” she said. “My vision is for Punjab to be the safest place for mothers and daughters.”

The Chief Minister confirmed that separate courts for land occupation cases are being established to ensure swift justice and strict punishment for offenders.
