Memon stressed that these limits will help improve road safety and reduce accidents caused by outdated and unsafe vehicles.

Every vehicle must also pass a road-worthiness test. Penalties for failing to comply include:
The amendments also make it compulsory for both heavy and light commercial vehicles to be equipped with modern safety systems, including:
If these systems are missing or deliberately disabled, the vehicle will be temporarily seized. Owners will have 14 days to fix the issue, or the registration will be permanently canceled.
The law will take effect within one year, giving vehicle owners time to adjust and comply with the new standards.
