Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan faced an unexpected delay in New York when police stopped his convoy to allow US President Donald Trump’s motorcade to pass.
Videos captured by bystanders show Erdogan’s vehicles stuck in heavy traffic, with the president visibly displeased inside his car.
In one clip, members of his security detail can be seen arguing with police officers while attempting to move a barricade blocking the route.
The incident comes shortly after French President Emmanuel Macron was also caught in New York traffic due to restrictions linked to Trump’s movements. Footage of Macron walking through the streets after his convoy was halted went viral earlier this week.
Erdogan’s apparent frustration mirrors the challenges other world leaders have faced navigating New York’s streets during high-security moments.
