The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a circular banning all forms of video recording within its premises, extending the restriction to journalists, lawyers, and members of the public.
According to the notification, video recording is now prohibited in all parts of the court building, including courtrooms, corridors, waiting areas, and offices. The directive applies to both professional cameras and mobile phone cameras, and covers official as well as personal recordings.
The circular also places restrictions on mobile phone usage, requiring that devices be kept on silent mode while inside the court. Any attempt to record or live stream proceedings will be treated as a violation of the order.
The use of cameras for live coverage has been completely prohibited, signaling stricter control over media activity and public documentation within the IHC.
To ensure enforcement, the court has authorized its security personnel to take immediate action against violators. This may include seizing recording devices and removing individuals from the premises if necessary.
