The Punjab government has decided to recruit 12,000 temporary teachers for public schools across the province.
With this new move, the total number of School Teacher Interns (STIs) in Punjab’s educational institutions will reach 24,000. The initiative is aimed at addressing the shortage of teaching staff in government schools.
According to the provincial education minister, the contracts of STIs recruited last year will also be extended.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given formal approval for the new hiring plan, and an official advertisement inviting applications will be issued soon.
Under the scheme, the newly hired teachers will be appointed on a four-month contract basis. They will receive a monthly salary of up to Rs. 45,000.
