Lahore is set to expand its eco-friendly public transport system, as 35 additional electric buses are expected to arrive in the city next month.
According to an official spokesperson, the new buses will operate along the Canal Road corridor, covering the route from Thokar Niaz Baig to Jallo Mor. The buses are scheduled to arrive in the coming week, with formal operations likely to begin in the first week of October.
A ceremony will also be held to mark the launch of the expanded service on the new route.
Currently, 27 electric buses are already running in Lahore, operating on the route between Green Town and the Railway Station. The addition of the new fleet is expected to significantly improve public transport accessibility, reduce traffic congestion, and provide citizens with a cleaner, more sustainable alternative to conventional vehicles.
With the inclusion of these 35 buses, Lahore’s electric fleet will cross 60 vehicles, making it one of the largest electric public transport operations in Pakistan.
