This Realme Phone Lets You Change Your Camera Module Design

A first in the smartphone industry, Realme is preparing to launch the GT 8 Pro with interchangeable rear camera island covers, giving users the freedom to choose between different design styles.

Leaked videos have confirmed that the GT 8 Pro will allow users to swap the shape of its camera island, choosing between a square or round layout. While the arrangement of the lenses still creates the familiar “robot face” look, the option to customize the aesthetic sets this device apart.

The presence of visible screws on either side of the module supports this design choice, as they appear to be the mechanism for securing and swapping the covers. This makes the GT 8 Pro the first smartphone to introduce customizable camera island designs as a user-level feature.

Hardware and Specifications

Beyond its unique design element, the Realme GT 8 Pro is expected to deliver flagship-level performance. Rumored specifications include:

  • A 6.78-inch QHD OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate
  • Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset
  • Up to 16GB RAM and generous storage options
  • A massive 7,000 mAh battery with 120W wired fast charging
  • Android 16 with Realme UI 7 out of the box

The Realme GT 8 Pro is tipped to launch in October, alongside the standard GT 8. While Realme is making headlines with its bold design experiment, the bigger question remains whether this feature will carry forward into future models like the rumored GT 9 Pro, or remain a one-off novelty.
