The Punjab government has uncovered 192 networks involved in producing adulterated milk across 25 districts of the province this year.
This was revealed during a meeting chaired by Secretary of the Price Control Department Dr. Kiran Khurshid, which reviewed the ongoing crackdown on substandard milk and meat.
During the briefing, Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Asim Javed informed participants that 192 milk adulteration networks had been busted so far, and cases were registered against 691 people found involved in selling contaminated milk and meat.
Dr. Khurshid stressed that strict disciplinary action must be taken against any official found facilitating illegal practices or engaging in corruption. She also directed that operational teams in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan, along with the testing laboratories, be strengthened to improve efficiency.
She further instructed that monthly inspections of hotels and restaurants be conducted to ensure compliance with hygiene standards. Additionally, she called for public awareness campaigns to help citizens identify adulterated milk and avoid fake labeling.
To facilitate the public, Dr. Khurshid announced that free milk testing facilities would be established at key locations across cities, enabling residents to verify milk quality easily.
