Karachi Man Caught Growing Weed Worth Rs. 60 Million on His Rooftop

The Excise Police arrested a man for growing weed worth Rs. 60 million on the rooftop of his bungalow in Naya Nazimabad, Karachi.

During the raid, police recovered 45 cannabis (weed) plants, weighing between 10 to 12 kilograms, along with 42 grams of processed weed and 30 grams of seeds.

The suspect, identified as Salman, was allegedly growing the plants secretly in flower pots on his rooftop. Police said he processed and sold the drug to local buyers. A case has been registered against him, and further investigation is underway.

Weed, or cannabis, is a plant containing psychoactive compounds such as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). THC produces the euphoric “high,” while CBD is often used for medicinal purposes.

Cannabis remains illegal in many countries, including Pakistan, due to health and safety concerns. Authorities cite risks such as addiction, mental health disorders, and impaired cognitive function.

Weed cultivation, possession, and sale are strictly prohibited under Pakistani law. Offenders can face severe legal consequences. Despite global trends toward legalization in some countries, cannabis remains banned in Pakistan, with authorities maintaining a zero-tolerance policy.
