The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has raised the minimum passing marks for all subjects from 33 percent to 40 percent, effective from next year’s annual examinations.
An FBISE official confirmed that the change will apply to students appearing in the 2026 annual exams for Secondary School Certificate (SSC-I) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC-I) levels.
Previously, students were required to score at least 33 percent to pass a subject. Under the new policy, the threshold has been increased to ensure stronger academic performance and align local standards with international benchmarks.
The decision follows recommendations from the Inter-Board Coordination Commission (IBCC), which reviewed the grading and evaluation criteria across educational boards in Pakistan.
