Police have arrested two men accused of robbing a call center owner at gunpoint in Gulberg, Lahore. The suspects were traced and caught with the help of CCTV footage.
According to police, one of the suspects, identified as Faheem, had recently been dismissed from his job at the victim’s call center. In an act of revenge, Faheem and an accomplice allegedly confronted the owner, Tariq, and forced him at gunpoint to hand over Rs. 50,000 in cash.
CCTV footage showed the suspects threatening the victim, and police said they also issued death threats during the incident. A pistol was recovered from their possession, and a case has been registered. The investigation has been handed over to the relevant unit for further inquiry.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Karachi, police reported an alleged case of harassment and illegal confinement of a female call center employee.
According to officials, the woman was reportedly locked inside a software house in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. She managed to call her family for help, prompting them to rush to the location. Upon arrival, a violent confrontation broke out when the software house owners allegedly opened fire. Gunshots were exchanged, but fortunately, no one was injured, and the woman was rescued safely.
Authorities later confirmed the arrest of eight suspects, including five armed employees. Police also recovered two rifles and three pistols from the scene. Six FIRs have been filed on charges including harassment, wrongful confinement, aerial firing, rioting, and issuing death threats.
The victim’s father stated in the FIR that his daughter had worked at the call center for three years. The branch manager, identified as Daniyal, allegedly harassed her through inappropriate comments and behavior. When the victim’s cousin confronted Daniyal, he reportedly issued threats.
The FIR further noted that on the day of the incident, the woman was locked inside the office, leading to the violent altercation when her family tried to rescue her.
