Metro Bus and Orange Line Train Shut Down in Islamabad and Lahore

The district administration has ordered the suspension of metro bus operations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi amid concerns over possible protests in the twin cities. The move comes as a precautionary measure to maintain public safety and avoid potential unrest.

According to Metro Bus officials, the service has been suspended on the route from Sadar station to Pak Secretariat until further notice. The decision was taken following directives from the district administration after intelligence reports suggested that demonstrations could disrupt public transport and create security challenges.

Officials said the suspension is temporary and services will resume once the situation stabilizes. Metro Bus staff and security teams have been instructed to remain on standby for any further orders.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has also suspended operations of the Orange Line Metro Train in Lahore due to security concerns. Sources confirmed that the train service has been halted for the day as part of broader safety measures across major urban centers.

Earlier, several Orange Line stations were closed to passengers, and police and security personnel were deployed at key locations to ensure law and order. Commuters have been advised to use alternative transport until both services resume.
