A newlywed bride who suffered severe acid burns in Wazirabad has passed away during treatment, police confirmed on Friday.
According to officials, the victim, identified as Rukhsar, was married to a man named Altaf on September 12.
Rukhsar’s brother alleged that tensions began when she returned to her in-laws’ home after visiting her parents and did not bring clothes for her in-laws. This reportedly led to frequent taunts from her mother-in-law and brother-in-law.
He further claimed that on September 28, Rukhsar’s husband, Altaf, and his mother allegedly forced her to drink acid, leaving her critically injured. Despite receiving medical care for several days, she succumbed to her injuries.
However, Altaf denied the accusation, stating that Rukhsar consumed the acid herself.
Police said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation into the case is underway.
