The Mangla Dam reservoir has reached its full water conservation level of 1,242 feet, according to sources from the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), reported ARY News on Thursday.
WAPDA stated that the current water volume in the Mangla reservoir stands at 7.277 million acre-feet (MAF). Meanwhile, the Tarbela and Chashma reservoirs had already reached their maximum capacities earlier this year, with Tarbela attaining its full level of 1,550 feet in August.
At present, the combined water storage in the Mangla, Tarbela, and Chashma reservoirs amounts to 13.316 million acre-feet (MAF).
Officials noted that this abundant water availability is a positive development for both Pakistan’s agricultural sector and hydropower generation.
WAPDA also highlighted that work is underway on the Mangla Refurbishment Project, which aims to boost the dam’s electricity generation capacity from 1,000 megawatts to 1,310 megawatts upon completion.
