The Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) Education Testing Council (ETC) has announced that several written examinations set for October 11 and 12 have been postponed.
According to an official statement released on Friday, the affected exams include the Undergraduate Studies Admission Test (USAT), the Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT), and the Recruitment Test for AML-CFT positions.
The HEC stated that the decision was taken in light of the current law and order situation in different parts of the country.
A revised schedule for the postponed tests will be announced later, and all registered candidates will be informed accordingly, the commission added.
Residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi faced major disruptions in travel and communication on Friday as authorities implemented strict security measures ahead of a political party’s ongoing protest in the capital.
The twin cities were effectively placed under lockdown, with containers blocking major roads and entry points, while mobile data services were suspended, leaving citizens struggling to move around or stay connected. The situation caused difficulties for students, lawyers, and daily commuters, many of whom were unable to reach schools, courts, or workplaces.
According to a notification from the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, mobile internet services (3G/4G) in both cities were suspended until further notice. The ministry directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to take the necessary steps in coordination with the commissioners and police officials of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Public transport was also affected, as the Metro Bus service remained suspended, while businesses and hotels along Murree Road were ordered to close temporarily.
