The Islamabad–Lahore (M-2) Motorway has reopened for all types of traffic after remaining closed for several days due to a rally by a religious political group.
Officials from the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) confirmed on Sunday that traffic is now flowing smoothly along the route.
The M-2 Motorway—one of Pakistan’s busiest intercity routes—was shut down earlier this week as a precautionary measure amid security and public safety concerns linked to the political gathering.
Authorities worked in coordination with law enforcement agencies to ensure safe reopening once the situation normalized.
NHMP urged motorists to follow traffic rules and remain updated through official communication channels before planning long-distance travel, especially when major public events are scheduled along national highways.
