The Sindh government on Tuesday declared October 20 and 21 as public holidays for government employees belonging to the Hindu community in observance of the Diwali festival.
According to an official notification issued by the Department of Services, General Administration, and Coordination, the holidays will apply to all government and semi-government offices, as well as educational institutions and local councils across the province.
Hindu employees working in schools, colleges, universities, and other public sector departments will also receive the two-day leave to celebrate the festival with their families.
The government said the decision aims to allow members of the Hindu community to observe Diwali’s cultural and religious festivities with ease and in a spirit of togetherness.
The government has directed all departments to ensure smooth observance of the holidays while maintaining essential public services where necessary.
