The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has instructed universities to carry out a pre-hoc analysis ahead of the Medical and Dental Colleges’ Admission Test (MDCAT), scheduled for October 26 (Sunday).
A total of 140,125 candidates from across Pakistan have registered for the nationwide exam.
A pre-hoc analysis involves reviewing and evaluating test questions before the exam to ensure accuracy and identify potential flaws. This measure aims to prevent errors that have previously led to controversies over out-of-course questions or incorrect multiple-choice options in MDCAT papers.
The PMDC has directed universities to issue admit cards or roll number slips at least seven days before the exam to allow students ample time for preparation and verification.
It further instructed that the development, analysis, and printing of MDCAT papers must meet the highest standards of confidentiality and accuracy. Question papers are to remain sealed until opened in the presence of official witnesses.
The MDCAT will be conducted simultaneously across 35 venues in Pakistan and one international centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Participating universities include the University of Health Sciences (Lahore), Sukkur IBA University, Khyber Medical University (Peshawar), Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences (Quetta), and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University (Islamabad).
