CDA Issues Deadline for Removal of Encroachments in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has issued a public notice directing residents and business owners in Islamabad to voluntarily remove all forms of unapproved encroachments within ten days.

The directive aims to preserve the city’s planned character, environment, and public safety, which officials say have been adversely affected by illegal constructions and occupations on public land.

According to the notice issued by the Building and Housing Control Wing of CDA, the authority has observed widespread encroachments on CDA land and public spaces, including unassigned areas, right-of-ways, greenbelts, and footpaths.

These unauthorized extensions, kiosks, sheds, and recreational facilities have been identified as major causes of environmental degradation and urban disorder.

The CDA has warned that failure to comply within the stipulated ten-day period will lead to strict legal and enforcement action. This includes demolition of illegal structures, imposition of fines, recovery of demolition costs, and further proceedings under the CDA Ordinance, 1960, and other relevant by-laws.

The authority stated it will not be responsible for any losses or damages incurred during or after the removal process.

The notice urged citizens and business operators to cooperate voluntarily, emphasizing that maintaining a clean, safe, and organized capital city requires collective responsibility. The authority reiterated that Islamabad’s aesthetic appeal and safety depend on adherence to planning regulations and the removal of all illegal occupations.
